Christchurch Symphony Orchestra: Autumn 17

Live Music

Winter is coming and, along with it, some great music from the CSO to add some cheer to those icy nights. Starting with an Australasian premiere of Sofia Gubaidulina’s spiritual and thoughtful Offertorium, featuring critically acclaimed violinist Mark Menzies, Lamb & Hayward Masterworks: Homage marks the change in season by paying homage to past giants and future classics (18th March).

Acclaimed New Zealand pianist Michael Houstoun makes a welcome return to perform with and direct the orchestra in an eponymous concert celebrating the genius and wit of Mozart on 1st April.

To put some spicy flair into the season, New Zealand rock legends Jon Toogood, Julia Deans, Ladi6 and Laughton Kora join forces with the orchestra for an epic evening celebrating the life and music of an icon in Leighs Construction CSO Presents: Symphonic Oddity – The Music of David Bowie on 27th May.

And what better time than the cold seasons to let your mind wander to new and exotic places? The orchestra traverses new frontiers in Lamb & Hayward Masterworks: From the New World with Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 (May 20th).

It’s getting chilly out there, but things are heating up with the CSO.
