Keeping it local

Christchurch’s businesses are coming up with any number of imaginative responses to events. Keep an eye on their websites and keep supporting them as they deal with these tough times. Remember, when you buy from a small business, a real person does a happy dance.

If you can get out to spend time in our local businesses and it's safe for you to do so, we encourage you to show your city some love and have a wonderful time while helping those who may be struggling. But if you're stuck at home and not able to enjoy those things, we're going to help you bring them into your own living and dining room.

Here are several Christchurch eateries that are still open for dining but are also offering takeaway and delivery options for those who would prefer to eat at home:

Barberra has a limited takeaway menu on offer so customers won’t have to miss out on delicious fried chicken, bao and tofu curry. For details, go to the website or call 03 3652888 to place your order for collection between 5pm and 8pm Tuesday to Friday. barberra.co.nz

5th Street has a takeaway menu available. Check it out on the website. Call them on 365 9667 to place your order, and then pick it up when it’s ready. 5thstreet.co.nz

Moment is offering customers wishing to minimise their time in their café the opportunity to pre-order coffee or meals for collection. Phone them on 261 4141.momentcafe.co.nz

Sister Kong Beer & Dumplings has two dine-at-home options available. You can now buy their delicious handmade dumplings frozen for you to steam, boil or fry at home. Also, their new menu is available for takeaway via pick-up or delivery. facebook/sisterkongdumplings/

Universo has designed a takeaway menu for pick-up from the restaurant, or for delivery if you live or work within the Four Avenues. The team are also happy to bring your purchases to your car if you would prefer. universo.co.nz
