Adding an extra dimension to the city’s transformation, the colourful urban canvas of Christchurch’s rebuild rocks numerous big-scale street art and numerous photo ops worthy of exploring in the city. Pulling a positive out of the dramatic transformation of the central city landscape forced onto it by the earthquakes, Christchurch has made itself a canvas for spectacular street art projects, making the city itself an über outdoor art gallery.
Keep an eye out for the awesome ‘Big Walls’ projects that transform blank walls into stunning works of art by world renowned street artists including Askew, Beastman Vans the Omega, ROA, Rone (pictured, 109 Worcester Street), Anthony Lister, BMD, Eno and many more. They're scattered around the city centre as a result of the popular annual Spectrum Street Art Festival. As the rebuild continues many are being hidden or are less obvious, so it pays to keep an eye out and your camera handy!
