Bessie's Wine & Meat series cued up for spring
Fans of fine food and fine conversation should get excited for Bessie's Wine & Meat series. Held this spring it's a three part series of very special dinners across the spring months, each graced by a celebrity guest.
The first event takes place on Thursday 21st September with former All Black, Ian Jones, before the second event with celebrity chef Jax Hamilton on Thursday 19th October, and rounding out the series is singer Hollie Smith on Thursday 9th November.
The swish new meat restaurant promises three quite different evenings, each with a carefully selected set menu of some of their finest dishes (showcasing New Zealand’s world class produce and dry aged meat, which is made in-house and then finished on a charcoal oven, roaring at 450 degrees Celsius), with each guest promising a different flavour.
Ian Jones first debuted as an All Black in 1990, soon to become one of New Zealand’s favourite locks. Having celebrated his 50th cap in 1996 with another try at Carisbrook stadium, Jones left New Zealand in 1999 to play for the English club Gloucester. Returning to New Zealand in 2002, after retiring from the game, he is now a popular television commentator.
MasterChef star, and author of 2 best selling cookbooks, and the face of Countdown’s successful Feed 4 for $15 campaign, Jax is an inspiring mother, businesswoman and talented chef who is all about creating, sharing and eating deliciously prepared meals, whether at home, or out and about socialising with friends.
Hollie Smith, one of New Zealand’s most predominant and iconic musicians, graces the third evening with great music. Her new album sits squarely in jazz and soul realms, yet is one of her most daring as she inches into the new territory of rollicking rock and blues.
