Canopy Landscape Architects: The Greater Outdoors

Making the sustainable attainable within modern, contemporary landscape design is all part of Canopy Landscape Architect’s over-arching mantra of ‘creating exceptional spaces’.

“We are really interested in crafting a strong legacy – our key focus is on making landscapes with robust environmental outcomes that people will benefit from now and in many years to come,” says landscape architect Paul Roper-Gee, who shares the Christchurch office with fellow Lincoln University graduate and landscape architect Gabe Ross. “We value a collaborative approach to design and work closely together with architects, engineers, ecologists, artists and planners to get the best possible design results for our clients.”

The pair are currently working on a wide range of residential garden, commercial landscape and land development projects in and around Christchurch. And while they are Christchurch-based, they work nationally as part of the broader Canopy team, with 4 landscape architects in Nelson and Blenheim. Together, the team provide landscape planning and design services across all project phases from initial concepts through to construction, and can deliver landscape projects at any scale or budget.

Their holistic expertise spans everything from the practical and functional requirements of urban streetscapes and parks through to ecological and cultural landscape enhancement projects.

Between them Paul and Gabe have worked on numerous award-winning projects both nationally and internationally, including Paul’s Supreme Award win at the Ellerslie International Flower Show in 2012 with his exhibition garden ‘Max’s Pipe Dream’. Their skills and experience allow them to take initial ideas and efficiently develop unique, creative and functional spaces and landscapes that work well for their clients and the wider communities within which they are located.
