CMNZ: Kathryn Stott & New Zealand String Quartet
There’s a rare treat for Chamber Music New Zealand lovers this autumn when acclaimed British pianist Kathryn Stott teams up with our own New Zealand String Quartet (pictured) to form a bit of a chamber music supergroup. They’ll be performing Gillian Whitehead’s still, echoing, Dutilleux’s Piano Sonata, and Dvořák’s Piano Quintet in A Major, op. 81 at The Piano on May 9.
Acclaimed as ‘a master of subtle emotions and telling details’, Stott is renowned for the precision and exquisite sense of colour in her interpretations, and has performed with the NZSQ on a number of previous occasions; this looks set to be another musically stunning UK-NZ collaboration.
