CSO Presents: The Composer Is Dead
Murder most (comically) foul makes its way to the orchestra pit when the CSO brings Lemony Snicket’s The Composer Is Dead to local audiences at the Charles Luney Auditorium on July 19. Dramatic music, mystery and the dark, sometimes macabre humour that is Lemony Snicket’s trademark is the order of the day as the Inspector investigates the orchestra section by section in this musical whodunnit – which also makes for a convenient introduction to orchestral instruments for younger audience members.
Find out what the violins were up to on the night of the murder, if anyone saw the harp or if the trumpet is protesting just a bit too much in this family friendly mystery. John Williams' Suite from Harry Potter and the premiere of a brand new work from local composer Hamish Oliver, as well as Ravel’s famous Bolero and Malambo by Ginastera round out a school holiday special from the CSO that’s got a little bit of something for everyone.
