Apps to help you stay connected
Stay social and talk to your friends, play games with people from afar, and whare your work with office buddies who can’t currently look over your shoulder. As we all adjust to working from home, you will probably find yourself missing some of the little things about your place of work, such as chats over the watercooler or the benefits of your stand-up desk. At Cityscape we’re most sad about missing out on our morning tea and catch-ups, but we’ve adjusted and are using these cool apps to stay connected.
Facebook Houseparty is the new kid on the block and can fit up to eight people on the screen at a time. It’s a great way to stay connected, especially if you have a medium-sized team, or just want to catch up with some friends – you can even play games together through the app.
Zoom has become an essential tool for businesses trying to keep their teams connected as everyone works from home. One of the most useful features is the ability to share your screen with others, allowing you to show them what you are doing rather than just describe it.
Skype is the original video chatting app – you can call your mates online and keep in touch with messages each day. Google Hangouts is another way to stay in touch – you can share maps and sync chats from your mobile device to keep the convo going. WhatsApp is a chatting app popular around the world – share some cute photos and keep the banter going.
Don’t forget when working from home to break up your day – you may not be getting up as often as you would from work, or may not have the same equipment at home to keep your muscles and joints in good condition. Remember to get up and stretch regularly, go for a 10-minute walk around the block and schedule in a change of activity each hour.
