Hey Cityscapers, if you work in the new Te Papa Hauora Health Precinct or find yourself visiting Christchurch Hospital, you now have a new hotspot to grab a mouth-watering bite to eat.
Six delicious new eateries opened on August 5 at 32 Oxford Terrace. Going under the name Eats on Oxford, the new dining lane serves up some bodacious green, clean, fresh food in the under-catered Health Precinct. The dining lane overlooks the Avon River, making it an ideal place to relax away from the precinct’s bustle.
Five of six retailers are already signed up, a mixture of new and well-known names.
The Serious Sandwich, already a favourite at The Colombo in Sydenham, brings its hearty fare to Eats on Oxford. Crafted lovingly with the best bread, meats, cheese and vegetables, these sandwiches live up to their name. Seriously. Your lunch won’t be the same once you’ve tried their BLT, spiced meatballs and parmesan, porchetta salsa verde (tender pulled pork with slaw salad, parsley and garlic salsa) or grilled aged cheddar (cheddar cheese with caramelised onion jam). Missed breakfast? The breakfast bap has crispy bacon, melted cheese, tomato and egg with mayonnaise and salsa verde. Yum!
Habaneros Urban Mexican Grill, rocking an exciting take on Mexican fast casual food, prides itself on preparing and serving Tex-Mex dishes made in-house fresh to order, using only the finest ingredients. Check them out for burritos, naked bowls, salads, chimichangas, tacos, quesadillas and nachos.
Sushi Ninja is another eatery expanding its offerings at Eats on Oxford. We already love the popular Normans Road outlet, with its curry udon a real favourite.
Two newcomers to the city – Sesame Noodle & Dumpling and Taste of Malaysia – round out the scrumptious offerings so far. We can’t wait to find out who the sixth operator is – word is there should be an announcement soon.
Need to grab some shopping or a shot of espresso while you are there? Other tenants include a Metromart, pharmacy and Black and White Coffee Cartel.
Eats on Oxford is open Monday to Friday, 10am-8pm and Saturday 10am-3pm. It is the brainchild of property syndicator and manager Silverfin Capital, which owns the building.
As a world-class hub for health education, research and innovation, Te Papa Hauora Health Precinct is helping to drive activity in Christchurch’s city centre. The developing precinct brings together researchers, students and clinicians in one central space, all contributing to a vibrant, stimulating and productive environment.
