Sustainability information
Paper sourced from sustainable forestry
Paper is made from wood pulp so almost all paper products will be biodegradable. Our preferred printing partner is focused on improving the environmental impacts of production and has taken a conscious decision to purchase paper from suppliers who hold PEFC or FSC certifications. The paper used in the production of Cityscape uses PEFC and FSC certified paper.
What is PEFC?
The programme for the endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) is a global, non-profit, non-governmental organisation which promotes sustainable forest management through independent third party certification. Presently, PEFC is the world's largest certification organization representing over 300 million hectares of certified forests – an area equivalent to the size of the whole of Mexico, or equal to the size of France, Germany, Italy and the UK combined. It is considered the certification system of choice for small forest owners. By utilising this certification Companies demonstrate their commitment to sustainable development and corporate social responsibility. To learn more, visit www.pefc.org
What is FSC?
The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) is a global, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of responsible forest management worldwide. FSC defines standards based on agreed principles for responsible forest stewardship that are supported by environmental, social and economic stakeholders. It is the only forest label supported by environmental groups such as the World Wildlife Fund, Greenpeace and by major forest product retailers. To learn more, visit www.fsc.org
Inks
The inks used to print Cityscape contain vegetable oil and fatty acid alkyl-esters (modified vegetable oils) which are used to replace mineral oil buel solvents. This has resulted in sheet-fed inks containing less than 1% non-renewable mineral oil.
Waste water
The small amount of waste water from production is treated and remains well within local body requirements.
Waste paper
All paper waste right down to our smallest paper offcuts are captured through extraction systems for recycling.
