If you can’t get enough of the umami feast that is gourmet mushrooms, get your lucky self along to The Colombo for this workshop run by Taylor McConnell from Sporeshift Mushrooms. You’ll learn more about the many different varieties and how to use each of them to best advantage, how to grow your own mushrooms organically, and even get the chance to start your own home mushroom farm!

No matter if you have a flourishing green thumb or are an aspiring plant parent who can’t seem to stop accidentally killing your babies, this workshop has something for you. Ben from Monstera and Men will teach you about horticulture, building a terrarium, and share his best tricks for growing indoors, including what to avoid and how to keep your plants nourished and healthy.

You will learn skills to make your pantry the talk of the town and the envy of all your friends, and you’ll also get to take home your own spiced pickles and plenty of recipes to get you started.

Bread Baking – Your Questions Answered workshop

Learn the art of bread making from REAL Bread owner and baker Christian Cerecke. This is your chance to build on the sudden passion for sourdough you developed during lockdown and learn a few more tricks from the professionals, like the importance of sourcing local organic grains.

Do You Know Your Weeds? Workshop

There’s nothing more satisfying than eating food from your own garden, right? If you like the idea of living off the land, you’ll love this workshop from chef and forager Melany Wright. She will share her knowledge of the edible plants she finds for chefs and restaurants, and discuss their health and beauty benefits as well.

Workshops start at 11am (except for the bread baking workshop which starts at 11:30) and run for 1 to 1½ hours. Bookings are essential – book at The Colombo Bookstore or online.
